In July 2014, California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. led a Trade And Investment Mission to Mexico, where he met with Mexican government and business leaders, helped boost bilateral trade and investment opportunities between the two neighbors and expanded environmental and economic cooperation. In addition, Governor Brown signed an MOU (listed below) to expand trade and investment between California and Mexico. This is the first MOU that the federal government of Mexico signed with a sub-national state.

Background: The Governor was joined on the Trade and Investment Mission to Mexico by a delegation of state legislators and senior administration officials. An additional delegation, organized by the California Chamber of Commerce, included approximately 90 business, economic development, investment and policy leaders from throughout California also participated in the trade mission.
