Growing California Businesses, $90 Million Available in CalCompetes Tax Credits

Sacramento, CA – Today, $90 million in tax credits is officially available to businesses that want to come to California or stay and grow in the Golden State. The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) is now accepting applications for the California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC). The tax credit program is open to any business planning to create new full-time jobs in the state, regardless of size or location. The deadline to submit applications is Monday, August 19 at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time). The online application automatically closes once the deadline has passed.
 
“This Administration is committed to ensuring the California Dream is accessible to all Californians,” said Lenny Mendonca, Chief Economic Advisor to the Governor, GO-Biz Director, and Chair of the California Competes Tax Credit Committee. "Since 2014, we have allocated nearly $1 billion to 1,029 companies through the California Competes Tax Credit. That has led (or is leading) to the creation of more than 100,000 jobs and nearly $19.5 billion in new investments across the state. This is a vital tool we have to support businesses that are adding good-paying, high-quality jobs across all regions of California.”

Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development Releases EV Charging Station Permitting Guide

Sacramento, CA – Today, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) released its Electric Vehicle Charging Station Permitting Guidebook, a document designed to help businesses and communities work together to accelerate the expansion of California’s charging station network.  
 
“Access to charging stations is fundamental to building a zero-emission vehicle system for all drivers,” said the Governor’s Chief Economic and Business Advisor and Director of GO-Biz Lenny Mendonca. “Success starts at the local level, and our team is eager to continue working with local stakeholders to accelerate market development.”

More than $55M in approved tax credits brings nearly 7,000 new jobs to California

Sacramento, CA – Today, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) announced that the California Competes Tax Credit (CCTC) committee approved $55,805,158 in tax credits for 20 companies projected to create 6,824 jobs and make $466,521,930 in new investments across California.  View the complete list of approved companies and award amounts.

California’s inland communities are places of great opportunity and innovation. We hope to see more of this growth across the state, in line with our Regions Rise Together initiative as we all play our role in ensuring our economy is one that works for all Californians.” 

Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development Visits City of Stockton

Stockton, CA – Today, Lenny Mendonca, the Governor’s Chief Economic and Business Advisor and Director of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), toured the City of Stockton to learn more about the work the City has done and to champion its proactive engagement in Opportunity Zones.

 “Opportunity Zones provide an excellent opportunity to revitalize low-income areas in California,” said the Governor’s Chief Economic and Business Advisor and Director of GO-Biz Lenny Mendonca. “As we lean into building a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive economy, we must ensure that it is also an equitable one. Attracting investment in areas that for too long haven’t received their fair share will ensure a California for all.”

Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development Celebrates Small Business Month Proclamation

Sacramento, CA – The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) celebrates Governor Newsom’s proclamation declaring May to be Small Business Month.

GO-Biz Now Accepting Applications for the California Community Reinvestment Grants Program

Sacramento, CA – The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) announced that it is now accepting applications for the California Community Reinvestment Grants (CalCRG) program.  GO-Biz will award grants to local health departments and community-based nonprofit organizations to provide qualifying support services to communities harmed by the War on Drugs.
